Julia Mata serves as the Graduate Assistant/ Assistant Coach of the Women’s Wrestling team.

Coach Mata grew up in El Paso Texas. She wrestled for Riverside High school for three years, and then  graduated from El Dorado High school. After High school, she  continued  wrestling at the collegiate level. She wrestled for Missouri Valley College, and was a national qualifier all four years. She has given back to her community by hosting wrestling camps and has experience in coaching youth wrestling in El Paso. She made a decision to continue her journey of learning about the coaching aspect of wrestling. With also the goal to graduate with a Masters of Arts in Counseling at OUAZ.

 Coach Mata’s has been successful with her wrestling career. Below are some highlights of her wrestling career.

  • 2023 NCWA National Champions
  • UIL Texas State Runner up 
  •  Most takedowns in Riverside High school history
  • Team Captain at Riverside and Eldorado High school
  • Las Vegas Freakshow Runner up
  • Team Captain at Missouri Valley College
  • KCAC Tournament Runner up (Freshman year)
  • KCAC Tournament Champion (Sophomore year)
